I MU SHO TO KO* – There is nothing to attain

The web of life

Spun with deeds of wonder
Woven lace held in place
Who and what is holding
Effortlessly grace and pace?

*The central passage in the Heart Sutra of Mahayana Buddhism like Zen
( The first two lines of the poem are my changes to a poem by Charles Ghigna’s)

Rainer Maria Rilke – Buddha in Glory

Center of all centers, core of cores,
almond self-enclosed, and growing sweet–
all this universe, to the furthest stars
all beyond them, is your flesh, your fruit.

Now you feel how nothing clings to you;
your vast shell reaches into endless space,
and there the rich, thick fluids rise and flow.
Illuminated in your infinite peace,

a billion stars go spinning through the night,
blazing high above your head.
But in you is the presence that
will be, when all the stars are dead.

Will, can, must and who I am

Ich kann, weil ich will, was ich muss.
I can, because I will, what I have to.
Μπορώ, διότι θέλω, τι εγώ πρέπει να.
~ I. Kant

Ich will, weil ich kann, wer ich bin.
I will, because I can, who I am.
Θέλω, διότι μπορώ, ποιος είμαι.
~ me

Creation and Imagination

“Creation — whether it be a painting, sculpture, symphony or novel — involves not merely talent, intuition, powers of imagination and application, but also the ability to shape material that could be expanded to other socially relevant spheres.”  Joseph Beuys, 1972
