The 4 great vows in a secular world, a talk given by myself with regard to Stephen Batchelor’s talk linked in my previous blog post.
What could it mean to practice the dharma in a secular world by committing to the 4 great vows as we find them in the Chan, Zen or Son schools of Buddhism?
What could be the impact in particular of the 4 great vows in daily life when relating to close family members, friends, colleagues at work and all the other personal encounters in a secular world apart from monasteries and retreats?
As a “lay” dharma practitioner like I am we face zillions of opportunities in this world here and now for applying what we have vowed to do and what we are reminded of by the vows.
